Barbados is famous for its world class golf courses and is one of the most popular golf destinations of the Caribbean. Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane Golf Club are the two most renowned courses on the island. Several golf tournaments are hosted throughout the year, attracting participants from a number of countries including Europe and North America. In December 2006 Barbados hosted the World Golf Championships World Cup. The four-day tournament was held at the Sandy Lane Country Club course on the west coast of the island. Rockley Club A Par 70, 5610 yard course located on Barbados' south coast and one of the oldest on the island. A 9-hole course that can be converted to play 18-holes, Rockley is a simple and beautiful course with deceptively tricky holes. Built within a 70 acre resort, Rockley is just 15 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the capital city of Bridgetown. Apes Hill Club One of the newest championship courses in the Caribbean. The course at Apes Hill Club is located at almost 1000 ft. above sea level and boasts sparkling lakes and coral stoned quarries.
