Europe’s most revered dining book was presented in a glittering ceremony involving the mayor of Marbella, Maria Angeles Muñoz, and celebrity chef Dani Garcia. Marbella this year was the chosen destination to host this year’s launch of the Michelin Guide Spain. The presentation took place on the 19th of November 2014 at the Salón Real of the Hotel Los Monteros. It is the first time the annual Michelin red guide has been launched in a tourist resort, with the 2015 guide set to be unveiled on November 19.
The presentation of the Michelin Guide is one of the most important gastronomic events in Spain and was an international event, welcoming press and personalities from all over the country. The Mayoress of Marbella, who is said to be thrilled with this honour, was accompanied by the Michelin-starred chef Dani GarcÃa of BiBo, Restaurante Dani Garcia and La Moraga, as well as representatives from Marbella’s other Michelin starred restaurants El Lago and Skina. Marbella has become a beacon of fine dining on the Costa del Sol in recent years, with no less than three Michelin starred restaurants. There was a bit of disappointment as no new stars were awarded in the area, however Marbella has more Michelin-starred establishments than any other town or city in Andalucia — Dani Garcia’s Calima (with 2 stars) , now transferred to Hotel Puente Romano, El Lago, and Skina.
