Salcombe in Devon has been named the UK's most expensive seaside town, with house prices averaging £672,874. The stunning resort town, where TV's Mary Berry recently listed her holiday home as up for sale for £800,000, is famed for its mild weather, West Country character and excellent local cuisine. In the new property prices research by Halifax, it was revealed that house prices have shot up by a third. According to BT.com, the average price rise is £49,207 ( £410 a month), from £159,522 to £208,729.
